What a design-led smile process looks like

How quality Turkish clinics approach smile design from first photo to final veneer. The same workflow underpins a Hollywood smile, and many patients first explore options through composite vs porcelain veneers before committing.

1

Facial & smile photography

Full-face, lateral, and close-up photos taken at clinical standard. These are used throughout the design process and allow remote preview before you travel.

2

Digital Smile Design (DSD) simulation

Software overlays proposed tooth shapes on your actual photos. You review and approve proportions — width, length, shade, arch form — before any commitment to a full smile makeover.

3

Physical mock-up (wax-up)

Temporary provisional veneers placed over your real teeth so you can feel the shape, check the bite, and confirm proportions in the mirror. This is where you decide how many veneers you actually need — changes are made at this stage, not after preparation.

4

Tooth preparation

Conservative preparation (0.3–0.5 mm for E.max) done only after mock-up approval, preserving as much tooth enamel as possible. For cases that qualify, no-prep veneers avoid drilling altogether. Temporary porcelain veneers are placed while the definitive units are fabricated.

5

Laboratory fabrication

E.max or zirconia veneers are hand-crafted in a clinic-adjacent laboratory, typically within 48–72 hours. Where structural support is needed, the design may combine veneers with dental crowns. The dentist reviews each unit before placement.

6

Placement & occlusion check

Final veneers bonded, bite checked at multiple positions, adjustments made. Photographic record of outcome taken. Follow-up protocol confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does smile design cost in Turkey?

Smile design with E.max veneers costs £150–£280 per tooth in Turkey, versus £600–£1,400 per tooth in the UK. A full 10-tooth smile design including Digital Smile Design and mock-up runs £1,500–£2,800 in Turkey — compared to £6,000–£14,000 in the UK.

What is Digital Smile Design (DSD)?

Digital Smile Design is a planning technology that photographs your face and smile, then uses software to simulate proposed tooth shapes overlaid on your real photos. You see what your new smile will look like before any tooth is touched. All NexWell partner clinics include DSD as standard in smile design cases.

Is a mock-up always included?

At quality clinics, yes. A mock-up (temporary wax or composite placed over your real teeth) lets you experience the proportions physically before permanent preparation. You can request changes. Clinics that skip mock-up are optimising for speed, not outcome.

How long does smile design treatment take in Turkey?

Typically 5–7 days. Day 1–2: consultation, photos, DSD review, tooth preparation, temporaries. Day 3–4: laboratory fabrication. Day 5–6: definitive placement, occlusion check, adjustments.

E.max or zirconia for smile design?

E.max (lithium disilicate) is the standard for anterior smile design — its translucency and light diffusion properties most closely replicate natural enamel. Zirconia is stronger but less translucent, better suited to posterior teeth or heavy bite cases. Most smile designs use E.max for the visible front teeth.

What is NexWell's role in smile design planning?

NexWell reviews your case, sources treatment proposals from 2–3 partner clinics, and compares them for you — materials, design approach, pricing, and 5-day schedule. We coordinate your booking, transfers, and follow-up. Our service is free to patients; we are paid by the clinics.
